Karl Reindler: Welcome back to another Mazda Tech Drive. Today we're in Shoreham on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, taking a closer look at the all-new 2026 Mazda CX-5 and some of the key updates that make this next-generation SUV more advanced, more refined and more comfortable than ever before.

Let's start inside the cabin, where the new Mazda CX-5 takes a significant step forward.

A More Premium, Minimalist Interior

The interior has been redesigned to feel more premium and more personal. The design is cleaner and more minimalist, with less chrome, simplified surfaces and more discreet air vents. The result is a calm, modern space that prioritises comfort and usability.

Mazda's focus was to create an environment that feels more like a living room than a traditional SUV interior, helping make every journey more relaxing for both drivers and passengers.

Upgraded Technology and Displays

Technology has also received a major upgrade.

In the CX-5 Akera grade featured here, a new 15.6-inch central touchscreen display replaces the previous infotainment system, delivering a more intuitive and connected user experience.

Ahead of the driver, a fully digital instrument cluster provides clear and customisable information, making it easier to access important vehicle data while staying focused on the road.

The system is designed to feel familiar and easy to use, with customisable widgets and layouts that allow drivers to personalise the information and features they access most often.

Additional premium features help elevate the cabin experience even further. Ambient lighting allows occupants to personalise the interior atmosphere, particularly during night-time driving, while the panoramic sunroof creates a brighter and more open feeling throughout the cabin.

Enhanced Safety and Visibility

Safety technology has also been enhanced.

The new 360-degree View Monitor provides a clearer view of the vehicle's surroundings when parking or manoeuvring in tight spaces, helping to improve confidence and visibility.

Smart Brake Support now includes Front Obstruction Warning functionality, designed to help detect potential obstacles at low speeds and provide additional driver assistance when needed.

Beneath the surface, Mazda engineers have further refined the driving experience. Updates to the suspension, dampers and sound insulation contribute to a smoother and quieter ride, improving overall comfort for everyday driving and longer journeys.

At the same time, the 2026 Mazda CX-5 continues to deliver the connected driving experience that defines Mazda's Jinba Ittai philosophy, creating a sense of harmony between driver and vehicle.
